Plan \x0d\x0aB is sold as an over-the-counter \x28OTC\x29 product for \x0d\x0aconsumers \x28women and \x0d\x0amen\x29 18 years of age and older. A prescription for \x0d\x0aPlan B is still required for women under 18. \x0d\x0aPharmacists\x27 role in furnishing Plan B to consumers \x0d\x0ais increasingly important, as consumers seeking to \x0d\x0aobtain Plan B must speak with the pharmacist \x0d\x0awhether the product is sold with a prescription, OTC or \x0d\x0avia pharmacy access. \x28The pharmacy access model -\x0d\x0a in CA and eight other states - allows specially trained \x0d\x0apharmacists to provide EC directly to women \x0d\x0aregardless of age in pharmacies without requiring an \x0d\x0aadvance prescription from a doctor.\x29 \x3cbr\x3e\x3cbr\x3e \x0d\x0aPharmacy Access Partnership, a center of the Public \x0d\x0aHealth Institute, has developed a Youth-Friendly \x0d\x0aPharmacy Initiative to make pharmacies a \x0d\x0auseful access point to meet teens\x27 reproductive health \x0d\x0aneeds. Youth-friendly pharmacy services are \x0d\x0adesigned to recognize and address the unique \x0d\x0achallenges, difficulties and obstacles facing \x0d\x0aadolescents.
