Data Analysis and Dissemination

CAHC analyzes and disseminates data with the goal of making adolescent health data broadly accessible to all our constituents.

CAHC maintains a comprehensive website that acts as a clearinghouse of up-to-date adolescent health trends, data, and resources.  One of our most recent projects is the California Adolescent Health Data Set (Data Set), a collection of California-wide and county-specific data about the health status of adolescents. The compiled data is contained in a single Excel spreadsheet and includes on over 50 adolescent health indicators, such as physical, sexual/reproductive, or mental health.  Another recent project is our California Adolescent Health Progress Report 2010.   This compilation of data presents a state-level, multi-year “Progress Report” on the health of adolescents and young adults in California.  CAHC also hosts the California Adolescent Sexual Health Work Group (ASHWG) 2008 Data for California Adolescent Births, AIDS, STD.

In partnership with the National Adolescent Health Information and Innovation Center (NAHIC) at UCSF, CAHC prepares report cards/progress reports and data guides to improve access to data on adolescent health. The Guide to Local Adolescent Health Data Sources, for example, was designed to help county health departments, community providers, schools, advocates and others working in the field of adolescent health to identify county-level, adolescent-specific data. Although many of the data sources are specific to California, these sources may also help adolescent health coordinators in other states identify data and data sources for their localities.
