CAHC seeks to develop coordinated, strategic approaches to address adolescent health through:
Publications – CAHC sends out quarterly newsletters and releases publications on current adolescent health issues. Newsletters highlight recent news, resources, and upcoming events as well as contain a policy section and profile an adolescent health organization. Our publications are on a range of adolescent health topics and include our recently released foster care and social media briefs.
Trainings and Technical Assistance – CAHC sponsors regional trainings on a variety of adolescent health issues, and provides technical assistance to public and community-based organizations dedicated to improving adolescent health.
Data Analysis and Dissemination – CAHC maintains a comprehensive website that acts as a clearinghouse of up-to-date adolescent health trends, data, and resources. One of our most recent projects is the California Adolescent Health Data Set (Data Set), a collection of California‐wide and county‐specific
data about the health status of adolescents. The compiled data is contained in a single Excel spreadsheet and includes on over 50 adolescent health indicators, such as physical, sexual/reproductive, or mental health. Another recent project is our California Adolescent Health Progress Report 2010. This compilation of data presents a state‐level, multi‐year “Progress Report” on the health of adolescents and young adults in California.
Convenings – CAHC brings together groups of adolescent health providers, researchers, policy makers, educators and advocates to share knowledge, resources and information about issues related to adolescent health. Our flagship event is our biennial statewide adolescent health conference.
Advocacy – CAHC keeps constituents informed of local, state and national legislation and policies related to adolescent health, and develops policy recommendations for members to utilize in their own policy work.
