The theme of the 2006 conference is “Health Rights
of Teens.” The program will explore four major issues
related to health rights.
Youth have:
- The right to support and commitment
from policy makers, the public, the media and stable families.
- The
right to empowerment through skill building
and personal opportunities to influence, advocate,
lead, educate and impact
other youth and the community.
- The right to youth friendly
and culturally relevant service and program options
with
design
and delivery based on research
and best practices that provide easy, affordable, flexible
access and involve youth in the planning.
- The right to
participation in communities that encourage
and support them through services and collaborations
providing
varied program opportunities, through relationships with
adults who care, through schools committed to promoting
health and youth development, through a healthy environment
that
is violence free, and through life style options that are
safe and healthy.
Educational content will be delivered
through plenary sessions, workshops, discussions and performances.
The conference strives for all content to be interactive
and will encourage the identification of advocacy, influence,
and action on youth health rights issues.
