Welcome to the 2006 Adolescent Health Conference, “Health Rights of Teens,” coordinated by the Adolescent Health Collaborative.  
     
 

The conference will be held on May 18 & 19, 2006 at Preservation Park and the First Unitarian Church in Oakland CA.

This is a conference for all who work with and support youth.

Explore issues of:

  • Support for youth
  • Youth empowerment
  • Service and program design and delivery
  • Communities that make a difference

Be prepared to:

  • Challenge your thinking
  • Communicate your thoughts
  • Collaborate with your colleagues

With interactive plenary sessions, workshops, discussions, and performances.

A Youth Track, coordinated by Health Initiatives for Youth, is a special addition to the conference and will create unique youth to youth interaction.

Conference Goals

  1. Build practical skills for youth and people who work with youth.
  2. Provide information on innovative ways to reach, educate, and advocate for and with young people.
  3. Create a collaborative environment for participants to share experiences around working with youth and their allies.
  4. Identify resources that can facilitate partnerships between youth-serving, youth-focused and youth-run agencies.
  5. Develop a plan for coordinated action on identified youth issues.

Continuing education credit approval is still pending. Approval is being sought for RN, LVN, LPT, LCSW, CHES

The San Francisco Department of Public Health, Community Health Education Section has been designated as a provider of continuing education

For nursing: "The California State Board of Registered Nursing has approved the San Francisco Department of Public Health-Community Health Education Section-Code, as a Provider of Continuing Education for Registered provider # CEP 03548."

For social work: "The California Board of Behavioral Sciences has approved the San Francisco Department of Public Health-Community Health Education Section-Provider #1389, as a Provider of Continuing Education for MFCC, MFT, AND LCSW's.

For health educators: "The Community Health Education Section and the San Francisco Department of Public Health has been designated as a multiple event provider of continuing education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc., Provider # CA0039".
