Hosts a clearinghouse of articles and materials designed to assist service providers in delivering mental health services in schools. Information includes program planning and development strategies, model program descriptions and funding opportunities.

 


State of California Department of Mental Health

Features resources related to the provision of mental health services in California including laws and regulations, licensing information, and a directory of mental health directors in each county. Also details the practice model “Children’s System of Care” designed to coordinate the delivery of interagency, multidisciplinary services for youth.

 


The Preteen Alliance

The Preteen Alliance strives to promote the emotional and behavioral health of preteens by raising public awareness about this important age group and promoting action among families and communities. The Alliance disseminates information; sponsors public events; supports research; and serves as a network for individuals and organizations to connect, exchange information, and discuss key issues affecting preteens.

 


National Strategy for Suicide Prevention

Features the most comprehensive source of statistical, research, and educational documents addressing suicide. Reports specific to adolescents and counties can be accessed through site or links to other sites.

 


National Mental Health Association

Offers educational brochures, screening instruments and fact sheets about mental illness, some specific to adolescents. Also provides a search engine for referrals and links to mental health clinics and affiliates throughout the state. The Mental Health Association of California http://www.mhac.org/ provides information and policy advocacy efforts specific to California, including information about the ACCESS Campaign.

 


National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)- Child and Adolescent Action Center

NAMI is dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults living with serious mental illnesses and their families through advocacy, support and education. Focuses on mental health systems’ reform at the local, state and national levels.

 


National Adolescent Health Information Center Information (NAHIC)

The overall goal of NAHIC is to improve the health of adolescents by serving as a national resource for adolescent health information and research, and to assure the integration, synthesis, coordination and dissemination of adolescent health-related information. NAHIC briefs and fact sheets are concise and easy to use. They have the most up-to-date information on specific topics, including:

California Institute for Mental Health

Offers reports and information related to the provision of mental health services in California. Information addresses training, technical assistance, research, and policy development. Some topics are specific to youth, particularly foster youth.

 


American Psychological Association

Features extensive resources packaged for mental health professionals, the public, and students. Many youth specific reports are available. Additionally, the Children, Youth and Families Division provides information and resources on current committee and public interest information related to children’s mental health issues.

 


American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Features a comprehensive clearinghouse of educational materials, research reports, and fact sheets designed to assist families and professionals to understand developmental, behavioral, mental and emotional disorders affecting children and adolescents.
